2015年6月11日米国カリフォルニア州キャンベル発―IHSはネットワーク機能仮想化 (NFV) に関する各社の評価・導入計画を見極めるために、世界中の通信事業者に詳細なインタビューを行った。その結果、35%の事業者が2015年にNFVを導入する計画であることがわかった。

IHSでキャリア ネットワークのリサーチを担当するシニアディレクター、Michael Howard氏は次のように語った。「NFV-SDNアーキテクチャーのネットワークへの移行には長い時間がかかり、今はまだその初期段階です。しかし、キャリアの多くが概念実証テストや実験室評価の段階から2015年の商用NFV導入に向けて動きつつあります。」

IHS InfoneticsによるNFV戦略: グローバルサービス事業者調査は、欧州・中東・アフリカ、アジア太平洋、北米の現役かつ競争力のあるモバイル通信事業者22社において、購入決定権を持つ人員に対して行ったインタービューに基いている。この22社を合わせると世界中の通信事業者の設備投資の43%、収益の39%を占める。調査参加者は自社ネットワークへのNFVの評価・導入を済ましているか、2017年末までにその計画をしている。事業者には、導入要因、障壁、目的とするユースケース、アプリケーションなどNFVに対する戦略とタイミングについて質問を行った。

35 Percent of Operators Surveyed Will Deploy NFV This Year

Campbell, CALIFORNIA (June 11, 2015)-IHS conducted in-depth interviews with telecom carriers around the world to determine their plans for evaluating and deploying network functions virtualization (NFV) and found that 35 percent are planning to deploy NFV in 2015.

"Though we're still in the early stages of a long-term transition to NFV-SDN architected networks, many carriers will be moving from proof-of-concept tests and lab evaluations to commercial deployments of NFV in 2015," said Michael Howard, senior research director for carrier networks at IHS.

"In fact, all major operators are either now deploying NFV or plan to within the next few years," Howard said. "Providers believe that NFV and its SDN (software-defined networking) companion are a fundamental change in telecom network architecture that will deliver benefits in service agility and new revenue, operational efficiencies and capex savings."

• 48 percent of carriers surveyed by IHS plan to evaluate NFV by the end of 2015
• Barriers becoming more prominent as operators get closer to commercial deployment include products not being carrier grade and finding and training staff

IHS Infonetics NFV Strategies: Global Service Provider Survey is based on interviews with purchase-decision makers at 22 incumbent, competitive and mobile operators from EMEA, Asia Pacific and North America that together represent 43 percent of worldwide telecom capex and 39 percent of revenue. Survey participants have evaluated or deployed NFV in their networks or plan to do so by the end of 2017. Operators were asked about their strategies and timing for NFV, including deployment drivers and barriers, target use cases, applications and more.
